Dealing with unexpected fears....
At this point I thought for sure I was past the worst part of my fears and dread - until something unexpected developed.  I had heard tales of people having to undergo aspirations when fluid collects near the surgery site, but never of having it done in such an unthinkable place!
So when Dr. Mirzai mentioned that I could have my "swelling aspirated by the on-call doctor" over the weekend should it really bother me, that's when my mind began filling with dreadful notions.
These drawings are some of the ones I did in the few days leading up to the feared appointment with Dr. Mirzai, where I prayed he wouldn't dare to do the unthinkable.
But of course the day came and so did the dreaded aspiration- yes, Dr. Mirzai did do the unthinkable!  But no, I must say that he's no beast at all, despite how I portrayed him with my fear-filled imagination.
Dr. Mirzai was quite understanding of my terrors, as could be expected, and he found these drawings to rather amusing, as he now has the originals.
So yes, I let my mind conjure ungodly terrors, transforming a kind, caring doctor into a sadistic beast, but no - I didn't back down in the face of fear and I went on and accepted the treatment - creepy drawings aside!
